National History Day Competition 2015-16

Welcome to National History Day!

CHS is participating in the National History Day Project in the US History classes. This year’s theme, Explore, Encounter and Exchange in History, is broad. This means you can choose a topic that allows you to explore your own interests, whether it’s science, sports, people, the arts, travel—you name it. Inspiration can come from  local history to world history across any time period or geographic location as long as your topic is historical in nature. As a student, it’s your right to find a topic that you want to find out more about, but you also have responsibilities: to choose carefully and develop your NHD project in ways that best use your talents and abilities.

After completing your research you will then present your work in one of five ways: as an exhibit, a performance, a documentary, a research paper or a web site. Much of your research will be done on your own time. This guide provides you with many resources that will assist you in the research process.
